Going to Toronto to Conduct Intensive Self Defense Seminar

Friday, October 27th, 2006

I’m going to Toronto for the weekend and will be conducting a very intensive self defense seminar. It’s been years since I last did one and this particular group set up by my brother will be an interesting one. Previous seminars were held over at least four different sessions on different days. This group is available for only one day so I will have to jam in all the usual content for a single session that will last maybe 3 hours. I think it will be interesting to see how much the participants, who are non martial artists, could absorb in a single session. I doubt that we will be able to get through the same amount of material that I would normally cover over a few separate sessions but we’ll make the best of it.

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

WOMAA (World Organization of Martial Arts Athletes) have announced the location of the next world championships. It will be in Castlebar in Ireland for next April (2007). I am planning on attending as I have already qualified from this past year since all those who were scheduled to go to the now cancelled Costa Rica event are automatically in for Ireland.

Martial Arts Toastmasters Speech Needs More Cutting

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Well, with one more day to go until my Toastmasters speech on martial arts weaponry, looks like I have to cut content even more in order to be within the five to seven minute time limit. I’ll have to cut discussion of the Chinese whip chain. I’m now down to just the karate kama, kung fu staff, karate bo staff and the Chinese spear. I’ll be doing some bo staff moves as well during the talk to the mainly non-martial arts audience.

If you haven’t seen my bo form yet, the video is at Karate Bo Staff Martial Arts Video. There are also Martial Arts Shirts.

Toastmasters Speech to be on Martial Arts Weaponry

Saturday, October 14th, 2006

My next speech at my Toastmasters meeting will be on martial arts weaponry. It’s only a 5 to 7 minute speech as that’s all the time allows at these meetings so I will briefly show and discuss the kama, Chinese staff, Japanese bo staff, Chinese spear and Chinese wushu whip chain. Originally, I included the Japanese samarai sword too but had to take it out due to time allowed. Then I will demonstrate some bo staff moves. I will finish off by describing some of the benefits with martial arts weapons training in today’s modern world.

See some of my martial arts information articles including some on weapons. There are also martial arts videos as well as martial arts t-shirts.

Working as Pharmaceutical Sales Representative Funded Karate Travel

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

Karate world champion Clint Cora Leung says that his years working as a pharmaceutical sales representative and later as a product manager as well as a sales manager, help finance his travels for karate competition. Competing in both the NBL and NASKA circuits require deep funds for all the travel and competition fees.

Clint says, “There was really good money in pharmaceutical sales and a lot of flexibility in doing my own work schedule so it wasn’t a problem to plan my travels for competition while working.”

“There was also a lot of extra perks like airline miles from all the traveling I did while flying on business. These frequent flyer points were sure handy when it came to helping reduce the cost of air travel to tournaments.”

Clint has just finished writing a book called “How To Get A Dream Job In Pharmaceutical Sales – Direct Inside Advice and Guidance from a Sales Manager” which is intended to help those who also want to get into the industry as pharmaceutical sales representatives. More details of this book can be found at www.GetPharmaceuticalSalesJob.com website.

Martial Arts Information Website Enhanced

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

The martial arts information webpages of Free Spirit Activewear’s website have been enhanced to display nicely for both 800 and 1024 resolution screen monitors now. Work took a full weekend but the results were worth it. For those already viewing the website in 1024, most changes will seem transparent but those who use 800 resolution will notice that things fit much better on the pages.

Free Spirit Activewear has martial arts information articles, martial arts videos and of course, martial arts t-shirts.
