Christmas Shopping for Martial Arts Supplies and T-Shirts
Monday, November 20th, 2006If anyone is doing Christmas shopping for martial arts supplies or t-shirts online, it is highly recommended that shopping be done as soon as possible. This holds true with any online store. From our experience, shipping martial arts t-shirts can take up to 3-4 weeks for some U.S. destinations so if you want the receive the products in time for Christmas, now is definitely the time to put in your orders. The best selections are now as well. Once we get into the first week of December, there’s no guarantee that martial arts t-shirts will be delivered in time for Christmas unless a very expensive courier method of shipping is used which will cost more than the shirt itself. So don’t delay in order to avoid disappointment.
Toastmasters Speech Went Well With Karate Bo Staff
Sunday, November 12th, 2006Well, my Toastmasters speech on Friday night went really well with the inclusion of my karate bo staff demo. The topic of the speech was called “Expanding Your Comfort Zone” and one of the examples I described of this concept was training with karate martial arts weapons. In order to learn such martial arts weaponry, I told the audience that one must expand the comfort level with a weapon gradually until more techniques are mastered. I did several moves with a broomstick rather than a full length bo staff because the room was only a small meeting venue. But the effect of the prop went well with the mostly non-martial arts audience of about 15 who never saw such moves before. Now that I complete my first ten speeches required for the CC certification level at Toastmasters, I hope to do more advanced speeches involving martial arts and when in larger venues, I will probably use full length karate weaponry.

Planning Another Toastmasters Speech with Martial Arts Content
Wednesday, November 8th, 2006I have my final speech required for the CMT level certification at my Toastmasters meeting this Friday night. Toastmasters is a worldwide organization that trains people in public speaking and I have been a member since September. I have done some past speeches with martial arts related topics such as history, competition criteria for forms and one on martial arts weapons. This Friday’s speech is a motivational one which I will call ‘Expanding Your Comfort Zone’. I will relate an example of comfort zone expansion to my own experience with training with the bo staff. My previous speeches on martial arts have been well received. I would think that one reason is that martial arts are not common subjects at Toastmasters meetings so my topics are different compared to the average Toastmaster speech. We’ll see how things go for Friday.

NASKA Circuit Will Be Even More Costly To Compete In
Wednesday, November 1st, 2006Looks like the NASKA karate circuit will be even more expensive than ever to compete in for next year. There will be about 14 tournaments in their world circuit and because of pressures of each promoter, all tournaments will count towards points ratings. Due to this, I will definitely not pursue the NASKA circuit for points next year. My main competition target will be the WOMAA event in Ireland and possible WKA. I’ll still compete in the odd NASKA and local event.
