Training for the Canadian National Karate Championships

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Since I have qualified for the Canadian National karate championships again this year, I’m currently training for the event to be held in mid May. At this point, I’m trying to determine whether I should even bother doing my Chinese form in the 35 plus forms division since it is a division that is Japanese style heavy. To read about the differences between these styles, see Karate Kung Fu Differences.

Also working on my karate bo staff weapons form since I don’t think at this point that my Chinese weapon will be as competitive.

Will Be Going To Canadian National Karate Championships

Monday, April 7th, 2008

I competed at the Ontario tryouts for the Canadian National Karate Team over the weekend and my results were good enough to make it to the national tryouts at the Canadian National Championships in Gatineau next month. I qualified for my three events but don’t now if I will be doing all three at the nationals next month. We’ll see since the cost of competition at these events are not cheap.

I will also take this month to see if I should still be doing my karate bo form or choosing another martial arts weapon to use at the competition next month. One thing for sure is that I will be doing my empty hand Chinese kung fu form since I took the gold medal again with that form.

Ontario Segment of National Canadian Karate Team Tryouts Tomorrow

Friday, April 4th, 2008

The Ontario portion of the National Canadian Karate team tryouts will be tomorrow in London, Ontario. I’ll go just to try and qualify for the Canadian national event in Gatineau next month. Not too crazy about competing so early right after the ski season though but I understand that the top eight places in each division can go to the Canadians.

Don’t forget to check out what’s remaining at our karate t-shirts line.
