Martial Arts Website Now On Apple Mac

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

So far, our martial arts website has been managed on our new Apple Mac for over a month now and we hope things look okay.  We are able to make updates rapidly now but now totally sure how the website looks on various monitors with Internet Explorer on Windows.  The only time I’m able to see our website through Internet Explorer on Windows is the occasional visit at the local library.  Apple Mac uses a different operating system which we love right now but we are aware that only a small percentage of the market is on it.  Our martial arts  website looks great on the Mac Safari operating system as well as Firefox.

Martial Arts In Motivational Speech

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Last night, I did my motivational speech again at a Toastmasters club I’ve never been to.  Again, the martial arts content was a hit.  This really confirms that the martial arts parts of the speech really works for me in terms of entertaining an audience.  So I should make sure that there is some martial arts content in an future motivational speech I do.

Full Length Karate Bo Staff Used During Speech

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Usually when I do my motivational speech at local Toastmasters clubs, I utilize my karate bo staff as one of the props.  However, due to limitations in space, I would often show the audience a full length bo and then use a shorter broomstick to demonstrate some techniques.  However, last night was different because I was a guest speaker at a local Toastmasters club which had their meeting outdoors so it was a rare occasion when I actually had enough space to use my full length karate bo staff as a prop.  It was certainly a nice change and probably better for the audience to see the actual karate weapon in action.

Three Martial Arts Forms Ready

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Over the weekend, I video taped three of my martial arts forms that I intend to use for the WOMAA event in Ireland next month.  So far, I’m pretty satisfied with the new versions of these three forms, one empty hand and two weapons.  So that leave one more empty hand form to work on which I’ll work hard on this week to finalize it.

Martial Artists During Pharmaceutical Sales Career

Friday, July 4th, 2008

During my former career in pharmaceutical sales, I did run into a few doctors who were also martial artists. One family physician from the Philipines had an arnis stick weapon in his Winnipeg office. He didn’t really know how to use it much as he was still a beginner at that time.

Another martial artist doctor I met at a tae kwon do class was a cardiologist based in Oshawa.  There were probably more during my 14 year pharmaceutical sales career since martial arts have become so popular.  But these are the two that immediately come to mind.
