Reduce Fear of Performing in Public

I was asked recently by a new Toastmasters member on how to reduce the fear of speaking in front of an audience.  The answer is simple, just start with small roles but get out in front of audience frequently.  The more you do it, the less fear you would have.  And this not only applies to just Toastmasters meetings either.  Take on any activities where you can be in front of an audience.  For example, I initially got over my fear of being in front of an audience through martial arts competitions.  The more I competed in martial arts in front of the spectators, the more comfortable I became as a competitor.  All of these activities involving audiences help.

Full Sized Bo Staff Used During Motivational Talks

The last few venues I’ve presented my motivational talks in were nice sized rooms where I was able to use my full sized bo staff during the parts of my speech where martial arts are used.  In many or even most venues, I usually do not get enough room to use my real bo staffs.  Instead, I have to use a shorter broom stick which still does the job but things are much nicer when I can use the real full length bo staff.  The use of my bo staff during my motivational talks really differentiates myself from others as a professional motivational speaker and the audiences appreciates this.

Karate Champion Perfect For Asian Awareness Month or Week

Diversity speaker and karate world champion Clint Cora, who is Asian-Canadian, w0uld be an ideal speaker for college campus events during Asian Awareness Month or Asian Awareness Week.  Many colleges and universities now feature this campaign annually and it is a great time to put on a diversity presentation for students and staff on campus.
