Toastmasters and Martial Arts

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

I have used martial arts during my speeches at Toastmasters before and considering doing it again for a possible speech contest.  This time, I’m considering on bringing out a Samurai sword for the speech.  I just have to place it in the right part as well as choreograph it with the words.

Martial Arts In Hotel Rooms

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

One of the things I like about martial arts is that I could do my forms in my hotel rooms during business travel.  Actually, I should qualify that statement.  I can do my Japanese karate forms quite easily with the standard sized hotel rooms but usually don’t have enough room for my Chinese forms unless I perform them with much less travel compared to how they are suppose to be done.  Chinese forms, at least mine, cover much more distance than Japanese forms.

As for martial arts weapons training inside a hotel room, I usually don’t have much luck, particularly for longer weapons like a bo staff.  I’ve chosen to go outside in the parking lot to train bo staff.

But overall, doing martial arts during travel isn’t a problem because I can still do my Japanese forms with full power even inside my hotel room.

Karate world champion Clint Cora will be doing a college showcase of his diversity presentation at a campus activities conference in Atlanta this week and as usual, he will feature some martial arts elements in his talk.  He will be using a karate bo staff as well as get the audience to do some group punching complete with karate yells for fun.  This type of showcase has worked well for Clint in the past and hopefully it will open up a new market for him in the US.

Weigh Training For Martial Arts And Self Defense

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

Here’s a new article added to our Martial Arts Articles Online website on weight training for martial arts and self defense.  It’s a discussion about why training with weights can help the martial artist.  I personally agree with the articles as I train with weights twice per week and it has help strengthen my own martial arts techniques.

Karate Champion Offers Full Day Personal Development Seminar

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Since there is demand from the corporate sector, karate world champion Clint cora is now offering a full day motivational personal development seminar based on his book ‘The Life Champion In You‘.  Previously, only the hour long keynote presentation was available but he has developed a six hour agenda with a 60+ page action planning seminar guide to go along with it.

A full description of this intensive motivational seminar as well as a sample agenda schedule are at Personal Development Seminar.

At present, this full day seminar is being offered only to corporations and organizations rather than the public.

Clint does hope to offer this seminar to the public in the near future since there has been demand from individuals as well for such a program.  There are much more logistical factors involved for public seminars so this will take some time to iron out although the program itself is already developed.
