Martial Arts Weapon Karate Bo Staff In TV Show

Monday, June 21st, 2010

#martialarts #karate #kungfu #taekwondo #ufc #mma

As a martial artist and professional motivational speaker, I like to combine some martial arts elements into my talks for added entertainment.  I use martial arts to illustrate important points of self improvement during my presentations.  One such example is that I bring out my martial arts weapon karate bo staff at certain points of my talks.

There is a concept I call comfort zone expansion in achieving success in self improvement.  A comfort zone is when you are just to set in your own ways and stay within areas that do not allow you to venture out to learn new skills.  Although as the term implies, you are very comfortable within your comfort zone, you don’t progress to achieve your goals.

You can usually achieve goals in self improvement only if you learn and develop new skills which will require getting a bit uncomfortable to expand your comfort zone.  I use my karate bo staff to show audiences what happened in terms of comfort zone in my own case when I was first training with this martial arts weapon.

I then relate the karate bo staff to everything else in life that one wants to do better in.  The same principle applies to every different area of life.  I like to say that expanding one’s comfort zone is contagious as one can apply the same principle from one area of life to another one.

Since my parts of my live talks with the karate bo staff (and other martial arts elements as well) are always so well received, I’ve decided to put this on video with an entire episode of Clint Cora Motivational WebTV to show my website visitors around the world on what the bo staff is all about.

This is actually episode number 10 from my Motivational WebTV series already.  I have had a lot of fun producing these episodes so far and I hope this new one will be entertaining and educational for your self improvement.  See it below.

Of course as always, your comments about this unique episode featuring my martial arts weapon, the karate bo staff, are welcome at the comments section of this blog as well as on Facebook.  If you missed any of the previous nine episodes, just go to Clint Cora Motivational WebTV archive.

Motivational Speaker Will Feature Karate Bo Staff Weapon

Friday, June 18th, 2010

#karate #martialarts #taekwondo #kungfu #ufc #mma

I was speaking at a Rotary club in Burlington, Ontario this morning as their guest keynote speaker and the member who introduced me was a 2nd degree black belt in karate.  So of course we ended up having a good conversation about martial arts during the breakfast before I went on for my talk.

During my talk as their motivational speaker, as with pretty well all of my motivational talks as well as diversity talks now, I bring out a karate bo staff weapon in order to help illustrate a key point in achieving success in everyday life.  This has been one of the highlights of my talks according to audience members.

So far, people online can see a short glimpse of my karate bo staff in action during the opening sequences of my Clint Cora Motivational WebTV show every other week.  This is my online video program on motivation, achieving success and diversity.  However, the sequence with my bo staff weapon is quite short so audiences get really get a good feel for it.

So I have decided to shoot an entire episode of Clint Cora Motivational WebTV using the karate bo staff weapon.  This will be the next coming episode which will be announced in a few days.  It will show those who haven’t been to one of my motivational speaker live talks yet a better look at my karate weapon and how I use it to teach an important success principle.  So stay tuned right here on this blog or better yet, sign up for my Motivation Diversity Success Newsletter at the sidebar of this blog so you will get alerts to all new episodes as they come out.

Martial Arts World Champion Reveals Tragic Past

Monday, June 14th, 2010

#martialarts #karate #kungfu #taekwondo #mma #ufc

Martial arts world champion Clint Cora puts out an online personal growth video series called Clint Cora Motivational WebTV and the latest episode is influenced by motivational guru Anthony Robbins. In this episode, he talks about one of the principles about your past and future. It is also the most personal episode Clint Cora has shot so far because this is the first time in this series that he reveals his tragic past history.

The principle here is probably one of the most important ones you will ever learn for your life. When Clint first came across it some years ago, it certainly gave him an ‘ah-ha’ moment. Fortunately for him, it also confirmed a bit of what he had already been doing but seeing it in print really reinforced things for him further.

Clint Cora really hopes that this video episode will be uplifting especially to those who really need it. The quote by Tony Robbins that he talks about is so powerful that it is also used it in his book and audio program ‘The Life Champion In You‘.

The Life Champion In You is a real hit during his live motivational talks and is starting to sell online as well.  The other day another copy of his four-CD audio program was shipped to Australia. It’s great to know that there are people from the other side of the world who is finding Clint Cora online and benefiting from all the material he offers for personal growth and development.

Now back to this episode. As you watch this one, it is really helpful if you spend a few minutes to think about how the important lesson presented here relates to your own life.  This can be one of those life changing moments if you truly accept the principle from Anthony Robbins.  Those in martial arts are not immune to the ups and downs in life so this principle us yet another great reminder on how we can grow despite negative circumstances.

Review Of Clicshop Shopping Cart And Web Hosting

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

#webhosting #internetmarketing #onlinemarketing #ecommerce

I was a loyal customer of Clicshop through their company Clicnet in Montreal for several years.  Their shopping cart was okay and relatively easy to use.  It certainly served it’s purpose well over the years.   I had a few websites hosted by them including my martial arts articles online site as well as this blog.

However, since my package also included website hosting with them, I experienced a lot of downtime with my websites.  Quite often, my websites as well as their email accounts will be offline for over a day especially if this happened during weekends.  It seemed that they didn’t even know about downtime until well after.  This were not just the odd period where my websites went offline but this happened too many times during key business hours throughout my years with them.

Even worse was their technical support.  When I did get somebody on the phone, their service was okay.  The big problem is actually getting somebody on the phone.  I would say that 90% of the time when I do call their tech support, I just get a voicemail message.  They obviously do not have enough people in support and this has not changed throughout the years.

With these problems, I had planned not to renew with them.  The sales rep told me over the phone during the winter that my next renewal was up in July and that if I don’t intend on renewing, I should notify them a month in advance in June.  When I sent them notice, they then informed me that my renewal was actually in May and that my balance is for the entire next year’s of service.

I called the billing department and the rep there told me that the sales rep must have read my file wrong but I should have kept in track of my own renewal periods.  She actually mentioned that if it was a hydro bill or something, it was my responsibility to keep these renewal periods straight.  I couldn’t believe that type of attitude!

There was absolutely no way that I was going to pay for another year with Clicshop so I ended up paying a $50 cancellation fee.  This attitude from Clicnet’s billing department was really the last straw which now prompts me to warn others to avoid Clicshop at all costs.  A half decent shopping cart but lousy access to tech support, frequent downtimes for websites and awful customer service attitudes from their billing department.  Take your business elsewhere.  I did now that my websites are at Bluehost with excellent tech support.

Martial Arts Website Moved Over To Bluehost

Monday, June 7th, 2010

As an effort to provide the best service for our website visitors, I have moved both my martial arts articles website as well as this martial arts karate blog over to a new website hosting service, Bluehost. Our previous website hosting server was just too inconsistent and had numerous periods of downtime as well as inaccessible support service.

I spent last night migrating everything over to Bluehost and things appear to be working great. Bluehost has an excellent reputation and great reviews. In fact, I moved five different websites as well as their blogs over to them last night and it was not painful at all, even for a non-techie martial artist like me.

The support service was fantastic as well which is a far cry from our previous hosting service. Based on the support system as well as the ease of migration of my websites, I would definitely recommend Bluehost as a website hosting service for anybody who is planning to put up a website or is not happy with their current server.

Shooting New Motivational Video With Karate Weapon Bo Staff

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

#martialarts #karate #taekwondo #kungfu

It was great to finally do my entire karate weapon bo staff form this week in it’s entirety outside after a long winter.  Although I’ve been using the bo staff at my motivational talks throughout the last couple of months, I haven’t really performed my entire form during the winter.

Now, I’m going to get some of the moves back so I can feature the bo staff for a new episode of my Clint Cora Motivational WebTV show.  I want to bring the part I do during my talks to illustrate a concept of comfort zone expansion which is important for achieving success in martial arts and anything else in life.

I’m going to include some addition moves with the karate weapon that I don’t normally do during my talks for this video shoot.  I hope to rehearse both the bo staff moves as well as my verbal lines well enough to do the actual shoot this weekend outside in the woods near my house where the lighting should be nice.

If you haven’t seen any of the episodes of Clint Cora Motivational WebTV yet, go to the webpage just linked and you will see the archive of all past shows which will help you achieve success in your life.

The episode to be shot this weekend featuring the karate weapon bo staff will be very interesting especially to my non-martial arts viewers who have never really been exposed to it before.  It will also be quite unique to martial artists who are already familiar with the bo staff because it shows it being used in the context of a motivational video.

Martial Arts Champion Helps Muslim Students With Diversity Discrimination

Friday, June 4th, 2010

#martialarts #karate  —-  Yesterday, I visited the ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) high school which is a private school for Muslim students here in my home town of Mississauga. I had blogged about this event in advance recently but the day finally came yesterday for the big event. I was billed as the martial arts champion who will come in and help these Muslim students with their diversity challenges and diversity discrimination.

Even with an advance meeting with school officials to learn proper customs for the event, I really didn’t know what to expect in terms of reception. I made an effort to learn an Arabic greeting which was ‘Asalaam-u-alaikum’ and used it during my opening.   This was well received by all and help set the tone for the rest of my talk.

I kind of knew that the boys will be pretty lively since boys are boys no matter what culture. I just wasn’t sure about the girls especially since in this situation, they might be more conservative as they all had hijabs on and were in a ‘no-touch’ with males scenario.

But to my pleasant surprise, the girls were just as responsive as the boys if not more during most parts of my talk. The girls and boys had pretty well an equal number of questions near the end of my presentation which was a good sign.

I did a book signing for the Muslim students afterwards and photos were taken by their staff as well as two local newspapers who were present. A TV crew from local news also came and we had coverage on TV as well (I’ll put the link to the news clip soon).

When I got home, I went through the photos that were taken by my own camera since I wanted a few shots for this blog and my motivational speaker website.  What really dawned on me especially from the shot with the girls, is that I knew that I really did something special today.  I went in and helped a group of people with their diversity challenges.

The local Muslim community unfortunately has suffered some diversity discrimination because of international incidents and many of them here (and I’m sure elsewhere) have found it difficult to integrate with the rest of Canadian society.  I was invited as a non-Muslim to come help these students and it was a real honour to do so.  As a visible minority myself, I have had many more years of experience dealing with discrimination in Canada and managed to achieve success despite it.  I had some great tips to pass on to these students (as well as adults who were present).  Of course, I did some martial arts with my bo staff for them as part of the entertainment.

I felt a real sense of pride in doing this particular presentation to this audience.  It was a real special moment for me and I will remember this talk as one of my most memorable experiences in my speaking career so far.  You will probably sense this as well when you see one of the photos below.   I don’t speak at a lot of schools since adults are my main audiences but will consider some if I think they are worthwhile to do.  I have a separate presentation called “Creating Awesome Future Successes For Youth and Teens” just for the youth audience.

Canadian Motivational Speaker Karate Champion At Professional Group

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

#karate #martialarts #taekwondo #kungfu

CARP is a national, non-partisan, non-profit organization in Canada committed to a new vision for aging in this country. They are involved in promoting social change that will bring financial security, equitable access to health care and freedom from discrimination. So when I was invited to come speak at the local Mississauga chapter of CARP as their first ever Canadian motivational speaker and karate champion, I was quite honoured to do so.

Their mandate is to promote and protect the interests, rights and quality of life for Canadians as people age in this country. I went in to do a slightly shorter version of my full motivational keynote to a receptive audience. It was a very nice facility since they used a theatre room in the Origin Evergreen facility in Mississauga.

I wasn’t aware that they had invited local press to come in and cover the event. Although staff photographers from SNAP North Mississauga didn’t arrive until midway through my talk, they took photos of the event after the presentation. You can see some of the photos as well as the writeup at the SNAP North Mississauga article.

I spoke to some of the CARP board members and they seem to be a group with lots of ideas for events in the community. They are also willing to do some events that other community groups have not done. So I told them that if they ever do an event where they could use a Canadian motivational speaker, I would be available.

Since I use my karate bo staff weapon during my talks and also invite some members of the audience to try them out, we were able to get a photo afterwards with CARP members with bo staffs as shown below. All for fun as well as some motivational learning as well.

If you represent a group or company in the GTA and could use Canadian motivational speakers for a future event or meeting, check out my speaking programs.
